Zum Thema Rating der Torhüter

2018-06-20

Hello Bryce,

normally I do not write about ratings, but in my league GM's are questioning the goalie ratings and find some of them too low and generally the difference between the goalies too big. For example Matt Murray, Steve Mason or Price, who are all under OV70 to a guy like fro example Halak who is OV72 and then as another expample Luongo, who, with not even half the season played, is an OV82. An other opinion in my league from the GM's is that there seems to be no focus on former performances, only the last season 2017/18 seems to be in the ratings. If you don't mind and have the time, could you explain to me how these ratings were put together, I will forward your answer in my league, so that my GM's can see the thinking behind it

Und hier seine Antwort:

You’re right that only the current season is taken into consideration, that’s the entire premise of the ratings (except DU and PS).
Due to the nature of the current NHL in which platoons are continually being employed more consistently we have a benchmark of 35gp to receive “full” ratings for a season.
With the specific goalies you mentioned (Price, Murray, and Mason) if you actually look at their numbers, they were awful last year, and the ratings reflect that. Same as with a player like Spezza.

Very simply, if a player or goalie doesn’t perform, they have the ratings to reflect it.

Specific to OV, I have no clue what player OVs are, we don’t even look at them when doing ratings. It’s all individual rating based. For more info on that, refer to the user manual that was sent with the ratings.

Thanks for the question, let me know if you have any others

What affects the ratings?

People have asked how we determine the ratings, here is a bit of information about how the ratings work, how/why performances vary, and what factors are in each rating (though the exact details are obviously not shared). We want to make sure you can relay to your GMs as much information as you deem necessary.

    1. Goalie Ratings

      1. SK – ESSP%, SP%, GP

      2. DU – Games Played last 2 years

      3. EN – GP Last 2 years, Career GP

      4. SZ – Height, Weight

      5. AG – ESSP%

      6. RB – SP%, GP

      7. SC – SHSP%, GAA

      8. HS – ESSP%, SP%, GP, PS%

      9. RT – SP%

      10. PH – ESSP%, SP%, GP

      11. PS – PS%

      12. EX – Career NHL Reg Season GP

      13. LD – EX + bonus for career NHL Playoff GP
